4 September 2021

Erna Hecey is delighted to announce the upcoming event Love, or a leaf of grass?, a conversation and poetry reading with Eugénie Paultre and Himali Singh Soin. The artists will discuss their visual practices as painter and performer, respectively, and how it relates to their writing. Readings from their publications will be woven into the impromptu exchange.

Eugénie Paultre (b. in Paris in 1979, lives in Paris and Normandy) studied then taught philosophy at the Sorbonne, and since 2010 she has devoted herself to painting and writing. She is the author of numerous essays and poetry collections in French, English, and German. Paultre has held solo exhibitions at the Institut français, Bratislava (2019), Gandy Gallery, Bratislava (2019) and Erna Hecey, Luxembourg (2020 and 2021). Himali Singh Soin (b. 1987 in North central India, lives in London) is an artist and poet. Her works dissect the environments around and beyond her by amassing materials—literary, archival, anecdotal—to metaphorically reflect on human engagement and disengagement with the natural world. She has exhibited at Serpentine Park Nights, Somerset House and Mimosa House, London; Migros Museum, Zurich; Yarat Contemporary, Baku; Gropius Bau, Berlin and Dhaka Art Summit among others. Her art writing appears regularly in Artforum and other major arts publications. She was the recipient of the 2019 Frieze Artist Award.
