Little Warsaw | Tabula Rasa

15 January - 15 April 2021 | GODOT Institute of Contemporary Art, Budapest

The change of political regime in Hungary in the 1990s marked a turning point in the spirit of the Hungarian College of Fine Arts, when László Beke and Dora Maurer began teaching there. This led to the creation of a "monochrome painting class" that, as a new way of academic thinking, went against the educational principles implemented throughout the 19th century.

The exhibition Tabula Rasa presents the history of this legendary class, through a selection of works by the class teachers - Zsigmond Károlyi, András Bernát, András Gál - and students who attended the course - András Gálik and Bálint Havas (now Little Warsaw), András Braun, Gábor Erdélyi,  Kata Káldi, Szabó Dezső, Csaba Uglár.
