(b. 1934 in Sint-Leopoldsburg and died in 2018 in Genk, lived and worked in Balen, Belgium)

Jef Geys was one of Belgium's foremost artists, known for his critical approach to institutions and talent for evading easy classification. Since appearing on the art scene in the 60s, Geys conceived his entire oeuvre as an evolving project combining a conceptual attitude, educational activity and formal experimentation. His work deals with themes related to social, political, and economic fields, and is marked by its critical intelligence.
