GRANDEUR NATURE

Pour célébrer le passage au troisième millénaire, nous avions été invités à réaliser une œuvre dans les jardins du Winter Palace Hotel à Louqsor :
Un bombax, un très grand arbre agé de cent-vingt ans, était situé dans l’axe du “Old Winter”. Nous y avons inscrit les mots Grandeur Nature en néon bleu, les lettres étant montées sur une bague transparente qui vient ceindre l’arbre.

L'expression Grandeur Nature, dans le contexte égyptien, fait référence à une double échelle de la démesure, celle des monuments et celle de la nature. Elle évoque également l'échelle 1, celle de la grandeur réelle, qui introduit le corps comme élément de perception. La phrase ouvre sur une autre dimension pour le prochain millénaire, lequel millénaire sera écologique ou ne sera pas.

GRANDEUR NATURE (FULL-SCALE )

To celebrate the passage to the third millennium, we had been invited to create a work in the gardens of the Winter Palace Hotel in Luxor:
A bombax, a very large tree aged one hundred and twenty years, was located in the axis of the “Old Winter Palace”. We have inscribed the words “Grandeur Nature” in blue neon, the letters being mounted on a transparent ring that surrounds the tree.

The expression Grandeur Nature, in the Egyptian context, refers to a double scale of excess, that of monuments and that of nature.
It also evokes in French the expression “full scale”, which introduces the body as an element of perception. The sentence opens on another dimension for the next millennium, which millennium will be ecological or will not be.
