TEMPORARY GALLERY COLOGNE just opened in Cologne in spring 2009. This innovative project aims to enable invited galleries to present their artistic positions to the Rhineland platforms. The founding members are Thomas Rehbein (Cologne), Christian Nagel (Cologne/ Berlin), Thomas Treß (Cologne),
Dr. Brigitte Franzen (Aachen), Daniel Hug (Cologne), Esther Schipper (Berlin), Dr. Ulrich Soenius (Cologne) and Daniela Steinfeld (Düsseldorf).
As the second invited gallery, Erna Hecey is pleased to present a selection of works by Eleanor Antin, Marcel Broodthaers, Peter Friedl, and Ryan Gander. Their respective work can be experienced as a focal point inside which intersect a multi-layered system of meanings, creating a large corpus that deals with the logic of critique and potentialities of narration. Each of them have inspired various generations of artists to develop works involving similar key issues through parallel strategies or appropriation.
